Following a large oil spill over a number of years at an elderly care home, the Nott Group were commissioned to review the previous consultants and contractors proposals and to provide commercially focused solutions to help seek planning permission for development at the site. The previous project team struggled to agree a way forward with the regulators and the site owner.
Following a review of the information, a revised conceptual model was developed which focused on the risks from a contaminated land and commercial perspective. Shortly afterwards, the client agreed with the proposed way forward and approved the remediation measures and costs. The Nott Group developed a strategy which resulted in cost savings of £430K (consultant fees of £80K and remediation works of £350K). To keep costs to a minimum and to provide certainty of costs and outcome the Nott Group were commissioned to manage the remedial works including design and installation of the plant.
All risk assessments and remedial method statements were agreed with Local Authority and Environment Agency with minimal amendments, on time and to budget.
